We got to know Bellingham quite well when our son Wyatt attended Western Washington University there.
Like many small college towns, Bellingham is a combination of hip and grunge.
The old downtown is quite alive, while the commerce is done in the shopping centers to the north and east.
The small suburb of Fairhaven to the south has some nice historical architecture.
